Lee Dixson, Public Works Department, stated the ordinance is for a residential development located south of Barry Road. The developer was required to submit a storm drainage study and obtain a land disturbance permit. All of the grades and closures have been checked and he recommended approval. David Matthews, John Lutjen & Associates, concurs with staff's recommendation.

Lee Dixson, Public Works Department, stated the plat is a commercial development. The plat is for two lot subdivision. All of the grades and closures have been checked and he recommended approval. Elaine Bower, applicant, concurs with staff's recommendation.

RESOLUTION - Recognizing the completion of the Redevelopment Study for the Truman Road Corridor Study Area; stating the City´s interest in working with the neighborhoods and businesses towards achieving the goals stated in the Study; and directing the City Manager to consider the recommendations of the Study at such time as amendments to area plans are made within the Corridor.


PLANNING, ZONING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE recommends "IMMEDIATE ADOPTION"
Claude Page, City Development Department, stated the resolution recognizes the completion of a study of the Truman Corridor. The study was completed with the assistance of the consultants, community members, neighborhoods and businesses in the area. The study concluded that there was strong potential for development within the corridor. Scott Burnett, Jackson County Legislator, thanked Councilmembers Nash and Williams-Neal for their efforts and leadership in the study. Mr. Burnett spoke in support of the study and the potential development that can take place. Curtis Ernest, Neighborhood Coordinator, Blue Valley Neighborhood Association, 1737 Newton, spoke in support of the study and would like to see the area revitalized. David Byers Smith, President of the Truman Corridor Association, thanked the committee for their support. He stated the city has been their (the association) partners from the beginning. Councilwoman Williams-Neal, spoke in support of the resolution and she is excited about the study.

Approving the development plan submitted by the Henry Hotels Redevelopment Corporation on approximately a 1 acre tract of land generally located at the northeast corner of 46th Terrace and Broadway Avenue; declaring the area included in such plan to be a blighted area and its redevelopment necessary for the preservation of the public peace, prosperity, health, safety, morals and welfare; authorizing the Director of Finance to enter into a contract with the Henry Hotels Redevelopment Corporation; and authorizing certain tax abatement within the plan area.
