RESOLUTION - Adopting the Kansas City Transit Oriented Development Policy as a guide for future development and public investments near transit stations and along transit corridors. (728-S)

T & I AND PZ & E JOINT COMMITTEE recommends "HOLD ON AGENDA (5/4/2017)"
There was no staff report for the ordinance. The City Planning and Development Department and BNIM Architects have prepared a draft policy to guide Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) in Kansas City. TOD is an approach to development that focuses land uses around a transit station or within a transit corridor and is characterized by dense, compact development with a mix of uses in a pedestrian-oriented environment. The draft policy identifies the critical elements of a successful TOD and provides a concise program of initiatives to implement TOD in Kansas City. Although the initial focus is on the streetcar starter line, the policy also provides strategies for future transit corridors and other types of transit. A copy of the presentation for this ordinance is on file in the City Clerk’s Office. Patricia Jensen, White Goss Law Firm, on behalf of QuikTrip asked that this ordinance be held in committee to allow for more discussion on the language which has been revised and to allow her client to meet with City Planning and Development. There was also public testimony on behalf of this ordinance being passed.
