Authorizing a $650,000.00 increase to the contingency for the Super Hangar Pod Roof Repairs contract with JR & Company at the KCI Airport.


TRANSPORTATION, INFRASTRUCTURE AND OPERATIONS COMM recommends "DO PASS"
Jade Liska and Mike Waller, from Aviation Department, gave brief testimony that this ordinance will authorize a $650,000.00 increase to the contingency for the Super Hangar Pod Roof Repairs at the KCI Airport. This new work will repair the last of the unforeseen conditions of the parabolic surfaces and reroof 11 more small pods. Authorizing a $1,085,900.00 contract with Gardner Construction Co. for 711 Mexico City Avenue Improvements at KCI Airport; and authorizing a maximum expenditure of $1,519,990.00.


TRANSPORTATION, INFRASTRUCTURE AND OPERATIONS COMM recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS, DEBATE"
Jade Liska and Mike Waller, Aviation Department, testified that this project involves interior and exterior renovations of 711 Mexico City Avenue, and will serve as a permanent limo, taxi and bus parking facility as well as accommodations for cell phone users. The contract will provide for construction of office space, dispatch area, restrooms and break area for taxi personnel and airport staff, as well as ADA compliant entrances and exits. Interior improvements will include new painted CMU walls, plumbing fixtures, upgraded HVAC systems, MEP improvements, suspended ceiling system, LED lighting, new metal doors and frames, as well as upgraded IT and security systems. The exterior improvements include site preparation and asphalt paving for nearly 200 parking stalls as well as drainage, landscaping, and new lighting fixtures. Authorizing a $950,000.00 Design Professional Services Contract with Lamp Rynearson, Inc., for the Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) Reduction: North of the River project; and authorizing a maximum expenditure of $2,000,000.00.


TRANSPORTATION, INFRASTRUCTURE AND OPERATIONS COMM recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS, DEBATE"
Matt Bond, David Hauser and Reza Zonnooz, KC Water Services, testified that this project will rehabilitate sewer pipes to help restore capacity to the wastewater collection system. The work performed as part of this design professional services contract will assist the City in identifying and quantifying sewer system deficiencies that are contributing to sources of Inflow and Infiltration (I/I). The project will be executed in two phases. The phase one project area is generally bounded by Vivion Rd on the north, Bales Ave on the west, NE Birmingham Rd on the south, and N Brighton Ave on the east. The scope of work and project boundaries for phase two of the project will be defined after review of additional flow meter and hydraulic modeling data is complete. Authorizing a $8,282,600.00 construction contract with The Havens Construction Company, Inc., for the Little Blue River Basin Project Area 1 Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) Reduction project; and authorizing a maximum expenditure of $9,111,000.00; authorizing a $730,000.00 Design Professional Services Amendment No. 2 to Contract No. 1350 with Tetra Tech for the Little Blue River Basin Project Area 1 Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) Reduction project for a total contract amount of $1,830,000.00.

Matt Bond, Reza Zonnooz and David Hauser, KC Water Services, testified that this ordinance provides authorization for construction phase services and for construction of the Little Blue River Basin Project Area 1 Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) Reduction project. The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate aging sewer pipes to like new conditions and to restore capacity to the wastewater collection system, by reducing the volume and frequency of separate sanitary sewer overflows. Authorizing a $1,800,000.00 design professional services contract with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., for the Smart Sewer Program Green Infrastructure Implementation Services.

Matt Bond, Prya Iyengar and Lisa Treese, Water Services, testified that this project will provide program management services to assist the City in expanding the implementation of green infrastructure in the City's combined sewer.The scope of services to be provided under this contract entails program management services to assist the City with expanding the implementation of green infrastructure, including system as part of the Smart Sewer Program.
