910013
RESOLUTION - Expressing the desire of the Mayor and Council that the City participate in a statewide program providing for mutual aid assistance in the event of a catastrophe requiring such a broad scope of response.

AUDIT AND OPERATIONS COMMITTEE recommends "BE ADOPTED"
Fire Chief Richard Greene stated this is a state generated concept that provides for the planning of dis- asters on a State-wide basis. It is entirely voluntary on the part of all communities. In the event of an emergency it is on a voluntary basis whether or not they participate in the exchange of resources. A system will be developed whereby any community in the State can obtain help. If a major catastrophe arises there will be enough people to deal with the emergency. If resources in a particular area are not adequate, the Fire Marshall would then coordinate a State-wode resource pool to assist the people in that part of the State. The Health Department and Water Depart- ment have done this type thing, but he believes this is the first time Fire Departments have participated. This is revenue neutral and will allow them to participate without having liability insurance.
