Authorizing the Director of the Water Services Department to enter into an Option Agreement with Midway Auto Realty, LLC, in an amount not to exceed $2,500,000.00 and to execute ancillary documents all related to the real property acquisition of 950 N. Century Avenue.


TRANSPORTATION & INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Terry Leeds, Sean Hennessy and Sean Kelley of Water Services provided the staff report for this Ordinance. This ordinance is for the authority to execute and exercise an Option Agreement with Midway Auto Realty, LLC to purchase real property at 950 N. Century Avenue. This option allows the city to move forward to purchase a building to store property. There will be 40 people in this facility as well as offices and a store room. It will cost approximately $1 million to bring the building up to full maintenance status. The estimated closed time is in about 6 weeks.

Authorizing the Director of Water Services to execute a Memorandum of Agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the construction of a waterline relocation associated with the Missouri Interceptor of the Turkey Creek Flood Control Project; authorizing the Director of Water Services to expend the sum of $120,000.00 for the construction; and authorizing the Director of Finance to return unexpended appropriations to the appropriate account.

Terry Leeds and Tom Kimes both of Water Services provided the staff report for this ordinance. The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the Water Services Director to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Kansas City, Missouri. The City has been working on this large Turkey Creek project since the 1990’s. This will finish up on the last part of this Turkey Creek project which is Hillside Sewers. This will take about 3 years to complete. This ordinance allows the Corp of Engineers to create a water line in their contract but it will 100% city responsibility.
