Accepting various easements and deeds in Jackson, Clay and Platte Counties and releasing various easements in Jackson County.


AUDIT AND OPERATIONS COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
City Engineer Gurnie Gunter stated this ordinance accepts 41 easements and deeds recorded in the month of December, 1990. These easements and deeds are for storm, sanitary sewer and streets in Kansas City. It also released one utility easement and two sewer easements in Jackson County. This is the regular monthly ordinance.

Authorizing expenditure of an additional $20,000.00 in connection with the City's annual contract with Zimmerman Plumbing, Inc. for emergency repair and maintenance of plumbing in various City owned buildings.

Bruce Palmer, City Architects Office, stated their existing contract was $75,000. With the Committee's approval they are increasing this to $95,000 and this should take them to the end of this fiscal year.

Authorizing a $29,625.00 agreement with Larkin Associates Consulting Engineers for design of a special assessment water main in the area of N.E. 112th; and authorizing expenditure of $34,000.00 in funding therefor.


AUDIT AND OPERATIONS COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Roy Jackson, Director of Water and Pollution Control, stated property owners petitioned for water in their area. A hearing was held on July 24, 1990, and estimated their cost per front foot as $14. The project was approved and they are now contracting for design of the project. After the design project, they will acquire right-of-way and take competitive bids, after which the contract will be brought back before the Committee for their approval.

Approving a $1,970,000.00 contract with Beemer Construction Co. for construction of 75th Street Transmission Main, Phases I and II; authorizing a $51,500.00 agreement with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co. for construction phase engineering services; and appropriating $2,151,800.00 in funding therefor.

Mr. Jackson stated this is a major bond project. This is one of a number of projects needed throughout the Fifth District to provide adequate water service. Earlier they built their James A. Reed transmission main. This main from Blue Ridge to Noland Road and Little Blue Road carry- ing a 24 inch transmission main to serve the area developing south of 40 Highway on down to Bannister. They had five bidders with all five being slightly above the City's esti- mate of $1,853,000.

Approving a $21,145.00 contract with G.C. Construction Co. for water system improvements at N.W. Bryan and N. Merrimac; and authorizing expenditure of $25,000.00 in funding therefor.

Mr. Jackson stated this system ties about 350 feet of eight inch pipe between two developments that will improve circulation and flow of water to an area generally west of AA Highway in the Bryan, N. Merrimac area, south and east of Platte Woods. There were six bidders and the City's esti- mate was $23,000. This project was initiated last spring.

Granting permission to Executive Hills, Inc. to install and maintain eight tree wells with trees in the public right of way on the northwest corner of 47th and Jefferson Streets.


AUDIT AND OPERATIONS COMMITTEE recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS"
Mr. Gunter stated this ordinance grants permission to Executive Hills, Inc. to install and maintain eight tree wells with trees on the public right-of-way on the northwest corner of 47th and Jefferson Streets. This is part of the improvement associated with this area. Dave Hadle, representing Executive Hills, Inc. asked that this ordinance be advanced.

Amending Ordinance No. 900320 by repealing Section One thereof and enacting in lieu thereof a new Section One, correcting the name of the contractor.

Mary K. Vaughn, Director of Neighborhood and Community Services, stated this ordinance amends an earlier Ordinance No. 900320, by repealing Section One and enacting a new section that will correct the name of the contractor.
