Authorizing a contract amendment with KONE, Inc., in the amount of $155,755.07, in connection with the emergency replacement of the Music Hall freight elevator at Municipal Auditorium and authorizing the Director of Public Works to expend $155,755.07 for the project.


OPERATIONS COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Tom Bean, Public Works Department stated, "This ordinance would authorize a contract with KONE, Inc., for the replacement of the Music Hall freight elevator at Municipal Auditorium."

Authorizing a $338,285.00 contract amendment with Johnson Controls, Inc., for additional work in connection with the emergency replacement of air washers at the Municipal Auditorium and authorizing the Director of Public works to expend $338,285.00 for the project.

Rick Usher, Codes & Administration Department stated, " This ordinance would give permission to Chilren's Mercy Hospital to construct and maintain a soil retention system in the public right-of-way for the building at 2401 Gillham Road.

Amending Chapter 70, Code of Ordinances, by repealing Section 70-39, Authority of director to close streets, sidewalks and other travelways; authority to establish emergency parking restrictions , and enacting in lieu thereof a new section of like number and subject matter to establish an application fee, traffic control fees, traffic control plan preparation fee and modification of fees for annual traffic control permits , and festival permits.

Jere Meredith, Public Works Department, passed out a handout regarding, "Increase in Closing Fees," And presented it to the committee. A copy of a handout is on file in the City Clerk's Office. Jeff Hess, Assistant City Attorney said, " The purpose of the traffic control permit fee is to codify the traffic regulation processes that the city would follow in the event if there is an interruption in traffic and right-of-way, to make sure that the persons that are interfering would file the appropriate traffic control plan and pay for the traffic control regulations that public works department has to administer and make sure the traffic control devises are properly placed at all times for the interruption."

Amending Chapters 18 and 64, Code of Ordinances, by repealing Sections 18-20, Fees, and 64-4, Construction or repair by property owner of facilities in adjacent right-of-way, and enacting in lieu thereof new sections of like numbers and subject matters and increasing certain fees contained therein.
