| 060793 (Sub.) | Providing for the establishment of an automatic traffic control system through the use of what is commonly known as “red light cameras” for the purpose of reducing injury to persons and damage to property caused by persons failing to stop at red lights or railroad crossings by amending Section 70-1, Code of Ordinances, to define automated traffic control system and records; enacting a new Section 70-961, Code of Ordinances, entitled “Automated traffic control systems”; requiring the City Manager to assess the impact on the municipal justice system prior to implementation of a system; requiring the identification of appropriate intersections; requiring a review of any program after 12 months of operation; and requiring a period of education and warnings.
OPERATIONS COMMITTEE recommends "HOLD ON AGENDA (8/9/2006)" Bill Geary, Law, testified on behalf of this ordinance. This ordinance is from the Mayor's task force. The ordinance adds two definitions to Code of Ordinances and adds the sections to the code along with penalties. This ordinance establishes the violations which would be treated as a ticket.
There are several diverse systems that can be used, one will take photo of the rear of the car, the other would take photos of the driver in the car. The city would have to decide.
This ordinance also requires the City Manager to present to the council the process. The committee had serveral questions regarding the passage of the ordinance. The ordinance would be held until questions are answered. Ayes: 4 - Riley, Eddy, Nace, Hermann Nays: 0 |

| To change and reestablish the grades on Red Bridge Road along the proposed centerline of Red Bridge Road (Sta. 5+29.38) to approximately 100 feet east of Blue River Road (Sta. 55+50.00), all in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.
OPERATIONS COMMITTEE recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS, DEBATE" Ralph Davis, CIMO, testified on behalf of this ordinance. In December, 2005 council passed an ordinance ( 051431) that change and reestablished the grades on Red Bridge Rd. Publication for the change was done on December 5, 2005 with a period for remonstrances ending January 3, 2006. Because their were no remonstrances this ordinances is being asked for passage. Bennington Avenue, all in Kansas City, Clay County, Missouri; providing for the payment of just compensation therefore; authorizing continued negotiations by the City of Kansas City; consenting to the filing of the petition for condemnation by the City Attorney, on behalf of the City; and authorizing the City Clerk to file this ordinance with the Recorder of Deeds in Clay County, Missouri.
