Authorizing a contract amendment with Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in the amount of $100,984.87 for a total contract amount of $348,984.87 that provides HIV medication services for persons living with HIV/AIDS and authorizing the Director of Health to amend the contract by up to $250,000.00 without Council approval.


NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
N'kosi Halim, Health Department, stated that the ordinance continues a contract with Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services that assist with medication services for persons living with HIV/AIDS.

Accepting and approving a $609,614.00 contract with the Missouri Department of Health that provides funding for HIV prevention, counseling and testing services; reestimating revenue in the amount of $121,641.00 in the Governmental Grants Fund; reducing an appropriation in the amount of $10,027.00 in the Governmental Grants Fund; and appropriating the sum of $131,668.00 in the HIV/Drug Reimb. accounts of the Governmental Grants Fund.

Hilda Fuentes and Jennifer Hill of the Health Department explained that the ordinance allows a continuation of a contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to provide HIV testing, counseling and prevention education.

Estimating revenue from a $60,000.00 grant that will fund a nutrition and exercise program for youth and appropriating it to the Healthy Habits account of the General Fund.


NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Brenda Andrews, Parks and Recreation Department, explained the need for the Healthy Habits program that focuses on educating youth regarding nutrition and exercise. The program goal is to reduce the percentage of children and adolescents who are obese and the number of deaths attributed to obesity. Futhermore it is the goal of the program to increase the percentage of youth involved in physical activities and their knowledge of good nutrition.
