Virginia Walsh and Jennifer Thomas of City Planning, explained that the first phase of the project is already underway. She further explained that the ordinance before the committee would reduce the number of lots in the project. Peter Opperman stated the average home in the project range from 350-500K.

Aaron March, White Goss,explained the reduction in the number of parking spaces for the project. Hilda Gibbs, President of the Westport Neighborhood Association, asked that the green space funding could be used for improvements to a neighborhood park. Steve Abbott explained funds were targeted but he agreed to discuss redirecting the funds to a neighborhood park.

Approving a General Development Plan for the Oak Pointe Redevelopment Planning Area for an area of approximately 8.4 acres generally bounded by 38th Street on the north, 39th Street on the south, Elmwood Avenue on the east and Kensington Avenue on the west, declaring the area included in such plan to be a blighted, insanitary or undeveloped industrial area and its redevelopment necessary, and approving the ad valorem tax benefits.

Approving the plat of D. A. Holmes, an addition in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri; authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute a certain agreement; and authorizing the City Clerk to file this ordinance and attached agreement.

Travis Kiefer, City Development, explained that the housing created by this ordinance would allow the rehabilition and construction of the old D. A. Holmes School and an additional parcel of land to used for senior housing. Councilwoman Cooper asked for an example of the age group. Patricia Jensen, White Goss representative for the developer stated that the housing project is being developed for those person 65 and older who needed affordable housing but little assistance. Many of the future residents have lived in the community for years and this project will allow them to remain in a neighborhood they are a custom to but in a living environment that is safer and better equipped to met their needs. The property in question had become and eye sore and dangerous. The developer hope to have the project completed by the fall. It will consist of 88 units and included such amenities as railing, emergency call buttons, ramps and widen hallways to accommodate wheelchair.

Travis Kiefer, City Development, stated that the ordinance was for to single family residents at 35th St and the Paseo built by the H. O.U.S.E. for Habitat . Fred Burns, Representative for HOUSE for Habitiat stated that the homes were sponsor in part by the Pritchard Foundation. They are a total of 1400 Sq Ft and are two stories.
