Jacqueline Powell, Neighborhood and Community Services, testified on behalf of this ordinance. No public testimony. This ordinance authorizes the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services to accept a contribution in the amount of $3,000 from the Bob Mohart Educational Fund for dedication to the Human Services Division's for sponsorship of program activities that support the education of children directly and indirectly; appropriate funds from the Unappropriated Fund Balance.

Estimating revenue and appropriating the sum of $124,000.00 to the Health Care Foundation Grant account; designating requisitioning authority; and recognizing an emergency.

Andrew Miller, Municipal Court, explained the purpose of this ordinance and answered questions from the committee. Mark Thoma-Perry, Budget and Management Office, answered questions from the committee regarding the grant funds. No public testimony. This ordinance accepts a one-year grant from the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City for $124,000 for Municipal Drug Court services for persons living with HIV in the Kansas City area. This ordinance establishes a partnership with Legal Aid of Western Missouri and the Kansas City Free Health Clinic to provide drug court services to persons living with HIV who have been charged with an ordinance violation.

Estimating revenue and appropriating additional Summer Food Service Program grant dollars; authorizing the Director of Neighborhood and Community to accept a grant through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for the Summer Food Service Program, a U.S. Department of Agriculture program, in the amount of $331,531.00; and authorizing a contract with the Kansas City Missouri School District in amount not to exceed $299,182.00.
