| 040042 (Sub.) | Authorizing the Director of City Development to enter into a Lease Agreement with Bott Broadcasting Company for the leasing of City-owned property generally located on the Old Municipal Farm property west of I-435 for a term of 15 years, for the construction and maintenance of two radio towers; and authorizing the Director to terminate a previous lease with the same lessee.
PLANNING, ZONING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS AS A COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE" This ordinance authorizes a Lease Agreement between Bott Broadcasting Company and the City of Kansas City, Mo, for construction and maintenance of additional radio towers on approximately 12.13 acres generally located at the Old Municipal Farm property West of 1-435. The Bott Broadcasting Company currently has 20 acres at the same general location in which 3 radio towers are located. This ordinance will allow them to add 2 additional 2 towers to the property and for the lease terms to run consecutive. The property that is being requested to lease is overgrown and Bott will maintain the property in " park-like" setting. The term for the lease would be 15 years at the rate of $3,091.00 annually plus a consumer price index increase annually beginning year two for the purpose of constructing and maintaining a radio transmitting antenna system. Staff recommends approval. |

The City Plan commission approved the grades and closure. The property was formerly known as Little Sisters of the Poor. The applicant is Swope Community Builders. |

PLANNING, ZONING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS" Larry Stice, City Development, stated that the ordinance was a vacation of the north-south alley east of vacated Santa Fe Street north of 8th Street known as the West Bottoms at 8th the Lewis and Clark Viaduct. It would allow the development of the New Faultless Starch Facility. There will be a new building of approximately 100,000 square feet on the north side of 89th Street. The applicant is the sole owner of adjacent property and has consented to all conditions. There are no utilities, public or private within the right of way so no easement need to be retained. James Hundley of MC Real Estate Services Inc. is the applicant. |

The combined project create a unique opportunity for cooperative work between several of Kansas City's largest employers namely the IRS, US Postal Service. The projects will create a new business hub in the downtown area, new residential living spaces and much needed additional parking. It will also beautify the area. The projects will rehabilitate numerous historic structures as well as new construction and road improvement. |
