RESOLUTION NO. 100529
Recognizing
City employee Paula Macaitis, the Forestry and Conservation Division, and the
Capital Projects Office as recipients of the Eighth Environmental Achievement
Awards from the Environmental Management Commission.
WHEREAS, the City
Council is both committed to improving the environment and recognizing the
achievements of the City’s employees; and
WHEREAS, to be
awarded the Environmental Achievement Award by the Environmental Management
Commission, the acts or achievements of the recipient must have significantly
reduced the volume or toxicity of waste generated, prevented pollution,
preserved or restored natural lands or habitat, conserved resources and
benefited the environment; and
WHEREAS, these City
employees performed certain acts or achievements for which they were recognized
by the Environmental Management Commission; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby recognize the recipients of the Eighth Annual Environmental
Achievement Awards and their exceptional contributions to the environment of
Kansas City, Missouri for its residents:
1.
Paula
Macaitis of the Health Department for her work on the Childhood Lead Poisoning
Prevention Program,
2.
The
Forestry and Conservation Division of the Parks and Recreation Department for
its work on the Kansas City Conservation Corps,
3.
The
Capital Projects Office for its work on the East Village Block 100 demolition
and remediation project; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Paula Macaitis, the
Forestry and Conservation Division, and the Capital Projects Office with the
appreciation of the Mayor and Council for the hard work being done by the
staff.
