COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION NO. 091062

 

Recognizing the importance of Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo to the economy of Kansas City, Missouri; and supporting state legislation and financial assistance to maintain and expand the workforce at the plant and to secure new product lines and associated capital investment.

 

WHEREAS, Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo has a profound and positive effect on the economy of Kansas City by utilizing local suppliers and providing good jobs for Kansas City residents; and

 

WHEREAS, the City recognizes and supports all efforts to maintain and expand the workforce at the plant as well as efforts to secure new product lines and associated capital investment; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the importance of Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo to the economy of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

Section 2. That the Mayor and Council support efforts to maintain and expand the workforce at the plant as well as efforts to secure new product lines and associated capital investment and urge the General Assembly to pass legislation and provide financial assistance to achieve this end.

 

Section 3. That the City Manager is hereby directed to work cooperatively with the Economic Development Corporation and other stakeholders to assist efforts to preserve and improve the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo.
