COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 060953

 

Amending Section 2-1081, Code of Ordinances, to remove the automatic 4% annual raises for municipal judges and to provide for raises to match increases when salary ranges for management-exempt City employees are raised or general cost of living increases are given to management-exempt City employees.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That Chapter 2, Code of Ordinances of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, is hereby amended by repealing Section 2-1081, Salary schedule for elective positions in the City service, and enacting a new section, to read as follows:

 

Sec. 2-1081. Salary schedule for elective positions in the city service.

 

(a) The following schedule for elective positions in the city service is adopted as the standard annual salary schedule for the following positions in the city service:

(b) After April 30, 2008, the salaries of Judges of the Municipal Court and the Housing Court Judge of the Municipal Court shall be increased in each year the top salary range for management-exempt employees is increased or a general cost of living increase is given to management-exempt employees. For Judges of the Municipal Court, any such increase shall be equal to that granted to employees in the ME-A through ME-J classifications and shall take effect on the same date as for employees in those classifications. For the Housing Court Judge of the Municipal Court, the amount of any such increase shall be equal to three-tenths of the amount granted to the ME-A through ME-J classifications and shall take effect on the same date as for employees in those classifications.
