RESOLUTION NO. 050431
Approving
an amendment for the Downtown East Area Plan to allow public/semi-public use in
an area generally bounded by I-70 on the north, E. 19th Street on
the south, The Paseo on the east and Harrison Street on the west. (211-S-11)
WHEREAS, the Downtown
East Area Plan was approved as a guide for the development and redevelopment of
that area generally bounded on the south by 23rd Street, on the west
by Troost Avenue, and on the north and east by I-70 by Resolution No. 49636,
adopted October 19, 1978; and
WHEREAS, said
Downtown East Area Plan was amended by Resolution No. 920054 adopted February
13, 1992 and by Resolution No. 63757, adopted April 13, 1989; and
WHEREAS, it has been
determined that it is appropriate to provide for further modification of said
Downtown East Area Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City
Development Department has recommended that the land use designations of said
Plan be modified to allow public/semi-public development in an area generally
bounded by I-70 on the north, E. 19th Street on the south, The Paseo
on the east and Harrison Street on the west; and
WHEREAS, on March 1,
2005, the City Plan Commission recommended approval of such amendment to the
Downtown East Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section A. That the
Downtown East Area Plan is hereby amended by modifying the recommended land use
designations for a certain area to allow public/semi-public development use, as
more specifically identified on Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a part
hereof.
Section B. That in
all other respects, the Downtown East Area Plan, as amended, remains in full
force and effect.
Section C. That the
Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed plan,
all public notices and hearing required by law have been given and had.
