RESOLUTION NO. 030369

 

Recognizing students from Calvin College and the University of Northern Texas for their participation in the building of homes for Habitat for Humanity.

 

WHEREAS, students from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and from the University of Northern Texas in Denton, Texas came to Kansas City during their spring break as part of a collegiate challenge to help build houses for the Habitat for Humanity organization; and

 

WHEREAS, they have participated in landscaping, painting and other things related to constructing a home; and

 

WHEREAS, the students from Calvin College are Anna Diemer, Deb Diemer, Sarah Diemer, Mike Fennema, Wes Hoekman, Brian Katerburg, Alisson Kleinsasser, Dan McCurdy, Michelle Ough, Dan Roels, Dave Slager, Melanie VanderWal and Paul Vliem; and

 

WHEREAS, the students from the University of Northern Texas are Brian Calvin, Spencer Davis, Dave Iula, Nathan Kawaller, Kate Leannah, Ashlee Massengale, Michelle Mendez, Natalie Redle, Jenny Rose and Josh Webb; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize students from Calvin College and the University of Northern Texas for their participation in building homes for the Habitat for Humanity; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to each of the schools with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for the many hours they have spent in sharing their talents and time with the community.
