Honoring Mary Therese Carroll for her lifelong commitment to the northeast community.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Carroll is founder and president of Old Northeast, Inc. which serves five neighborhoods in the northeast area and was incorporated in October, 1984; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Carroll has spent her adult life in the northeast community and is a charter member and director of the Northeast Alliance Together - the Northeast Business Association, and president of Historic Northeast Restoration Corporation - Independence Avenue Corridor Restoration Committee; and

WHEREAS, Mary Therese Carroll is a licensed funeral director and the former owner of Sheil Funeral Homes, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Carroll is a member of St. Stephens/Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and is a past president of its Parish Council; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Carroll has been active in various committees and boards for many years which are: former board member of the Kansas City Neighborhood Alliance, former board member of the Liquor Control Board; co-chair of the committee to build the new Hazmat Station; 2nd District-at-Large representative on the Public Improvement Advisory Committee, past president of the State of Missouri Federation of Womens Democratic Clubs; board member of the National Federation of Democratic Women, past president of the Fifth Congressional District of Democratic Women, member of the executive committee of the Fifth Congressional District, treasurer of the Blue Valley Democrats, Jackson County Committeewoman-12th Ward, member of the Northeast Blue Ribbon Crime Commission, member of Kansas City Mayor Emanuel Cleavers Safety Commission for Odyssey 2000, member of Jackson County Plan Commission, member of the Kessler Societys Advisory Board, member of Mayor Kay Barnes Transition Team and serves on the Citizens Association Board of Directors; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Mary Therese Carroll for her lifelong commitment to the northeast community; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mary Therese Carroll with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for being a leader in the northeast community.
