ORDINANCE NO. 100690

Approving a $110,000.00 contract amendment with the Black Archives of Mid-America in Kansas City to support collections, educational programs, research services and special projects that facilitate both scholarly inquiry and public understanding of African American history.

WHEREAS, the former City Manager committed $250,000.00 for operational support of Black Archives; and

WHEREAS, $140,000.00 of this commitment has already been funded and expended through a contract; and

WHEREAS, miscellaneous City revenues have accumulated in the City Manager’s Office over the past few years; and

WHEREAS, these funds can be used to satisfy the remaining commitment to the Black Archives; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the revenue in the following account in the General Fund is estimated in the following amount:

11-1000-100000-485320 Miscellaneous Contributions $110,000.00

Section 2. That the sum of $110,000.00 is appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund to the following account in the General Fund:

11-1000-101010-B Black Archives of Mid-America $110,000.00

Section 3. That the City Manager is authorized to execute a $110,000.00 contract amendment with the Black Archives of Mid-America in Kansas City from funds appropriated to Account 11-1000-101010-B.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
