RESOLUTION NO. 951375

 

Proclaiming October 6, 1995, as Teen Recognition Day.

 

WHEREAS, "Celebrating our Future... A II B A 5X5' Teen Awards Ceremony", a gala event is a part of our City's nationally recognized Mayor's "Hot Summer Nights" program, and a ceremony will take place Friday, October 6, 1995, at the Adam's Mark Hotel; and

 

WHEREAS, every teen has the potential to accept mediocracy as a way of life; and

 

WHEREAS, the cumulative effect of never realizing the talents and the gifts we were born with is better than never having tried at all; and

 

WHEREAS, the Youth Advisory Council for Youth Services with the Neighborhood and Community Services Department is committed to promote a campaign to educate, inspire and motivate teens to excel in community involvement, education, sports, courage and the arts; and

 

WHEREAS, the Youth Advisory Council is proud to create a vehicle for Kansas City teens to display their multi-talents to our community; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby proclaim October 6, 1995 as Teen Recognition Day; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council and that copies hereof be given to Robert Mohart, Director of Neighborhood and Community Services, Phillip Jamerson, Jamerson & Associates, and Brenda Andrews, Program Manager in appreciation of their efforts to recognize the contributions of and achievements by our communities teens.
