RESOLUTION NO. 990058

Authorizing an application to the Missouri Development Finance Board (MDFB) for authorization of state tax credits up to the amount of $9,500,000.00 to support the expansion and adaptive construction of the Liberty Memorial and Liberty Memorial Museum, and the design and construction of the Sesquicentennial Fountain on Pershing Road, north of Liberty Memorial.

WHEREAS, the Council intends to provide a wide variety of recreational and cultural opportunities for the citizens of Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners, through Resolution Nos. 24532 and 24534, has expressed, its support for the improvements and application to the MDFB and authorizes such application pursuant to the MDFBs Tax Credit for Contribution Program; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Council expresses its intention to support the concept of expansion and adaptive construction of the Liberty Memorial and the Liberty Memorial Museum, and the design and construction of the Sesquicentennial Fountain.

Section 2. That the Council states that the Liberty Memorial and Liberty Memorial Museum and the Sesquicentennial Fountain will benefit the public and provide recreational and cultural opportunities for the citizens of the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

Section 3. That the Council authorizes an application up to the amount of $9,500,000.00 to the MDFB for financing through the State Tax Credit for Contribution Program.
