RESOLUTION NO. 140883

 

In Honor of the Guinness World Record for Loudest Stadium in the World reclaimed by Chiefs fans at Arrowhead Stadium.

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Chiefs fans broke the Guinness World Record for the Loudest Roar in a Sports Stadium (Outdoors) on Sunday, October 13, 2013, when they reached 137.5 decibels; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Chiefs fans reclaimed the World Record on Monday, September 29, 2014, when they reached 142.2 decibels (a jet engine at 100 feet is about 140 decibel); and

 

WHEREAS, an official from Guinness World Records told The Associated Press that Chiefs fans broke the record of 137.6 decibels set by Seahawks fans during a game last December; and

 

WHEREAS, Arrowhead Stadium is renowned for having one of the best game day atmospheres in football; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby reclaim the Guinness World Record for Loudest Stadium in the World by Chiefs fans at Arrowhead Stadium; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Kansas City Chief fans with the congratulations of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for achieving the loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium on September 29, 2014.
