RESOLUTION NO. 160523

 

Congratulating Kansas City Pet Project on their four year No Kill Anniversary.

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Pet Project took over animal sheltering services for the City of Kansas City Missouri on January 1, 2012; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Pet Project became the third largest open admission “No Kill” shelter in the United States within six months of operation; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Pet Project has been nationally recognized for their community engagement and compassion for animals and has won the Paul Jolly Petco Foundation Compassion Award and the ASPCA/Rachael Ray “Community Engagement Award”; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Pet Project has reached a 94% live release rate through their lifesaving programs such as daily canine playgrounds, an in-house parvovirus ward, canine and feline fostering programs, their CLASS (Canine Life and Social Skills) training program, a barn cat program, and their Shelter Pet Advocate Resource Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Pet Project serves over 10,000 pets annually and saves the lives of more than 90% of the animals that come through their doors; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Kansas City Pet Project on their four year No Kill Anniversary; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Teresa Johnson, CEO/Executive Director & Chief Lifesaving Officer, KC Pet Project, and Brent Toellner, President, KC Pet Project, with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for the dedication for saving the lives of many of the animals in our community.
