RESOLUTION NO. 090424

 

Honoring Major Mark Dumolt on his retirement after 30 years of dedicated service to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.

 

WHEREAS, Mark S. Dumolt will be retiring from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department as a Special Assistant to the Chief of Police on May 30, 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, Major Dumolt honorably served his community as a police officer and his country in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army Reserves; and

WHEREAS, Major Dumolt shared a commitment to public safety with his late father, a retired Kansas City Police Department Sergeant; and

 

WHEREAS, Major Dumolt began his professional career as a Police Officer candidate on June 11, 1979, and rose to the rank of Major on September 7, 2003; and

 

WHEREAS, Mark received numerous awards and commendations during his tenure that included: Certificate of Commendation (1981 and 1994); Special Unit Citation (1997 and 2000); Good Conduct Award with four stars; and the Tenure Award with four stars; and

 

WHEREAS, his commitment to serving the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department included authorship of numerous reports impacting the effectiveness and efficiency of myriad operational aspects and additionally, he undertook extensive specialized training opportunities for the betterment of his service; and

 

WHEREAS, upon his retirement Major Dumolt anticipates being able to closely follow his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish; and

 

WHEREAS, Mark looks forward to spending time with his wife Stephanie, who shares his passion for administration of justice by working for federal probation and parole; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

  That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Major Mark S. Dumolt, on the occasion of his retirement from the Police Department service, the heartiest best wishes for his future, together with appreciation for his 30 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Major Mark Dumolt in token of their respect and high regard and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
