RESOLUTION NO. 920267

 

Expressing the support of the City for the retention and expansion of the Monark Egg facility and requesting the Economic Development Corporation to assist Monark.

 

WHEREAS, the Monark Egg facility has been in some form of existence in Kansas City since 1918 and currently exists at 601 East 3rd Street; and

 

WHEREAS, in August 1991, Monark Egg Corporation was acquired by Papetti's of Iowa Food Products; and

 

WHEREAS, the Monark Egg facility was damaged by fire in February, 1992, including the destruction of a main egg dryer; and

 

WHEREAS, the egg industry is expanding in the midwest and provides processed eggs on a national and international basis; and

 

WHEREAS, the City desires to support the retention and expansion of the Monark Egg facility as a key component in the City's strong food industry; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby express the support of the City for the retention and expansion of the Monark Egg facility.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council request the assistance of the Economic Development Corporation in reaching the goals of Monark.
