RESOLUTION NO. 980825

 

Recognizing the Coro Kansas City Summer Internship in Public Affairs program.

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, is aware of a continuing need for high quality public leadership in the years ahead; and

 

WHEREAS, the Coro Foundation established its public affairs training program in the City of Kansas City in 1975; and

 

WHEREAS, it has also achieved a record of effectiveness over the past fifty-six years in conducting its training programs in San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis and New York; and

 

WHEREAS, each year the Kansas City Summer Internship in Public Affairs appoints up to twelve college students with high leadership potential as Kansas City Coro Interns; and

 

WHEREAS, Coro has trained 280 outstanding college students in the past twenty-three summers; and

 

WHEREAS, the Coro Kansas City intern spends time in training with business corporations, government agencies, labor unions, community organizations and media organizations and completes a community service project as part of the experience; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council do hereby recognize the Coro Kansas City Summer Internship in Public Affairs as a valuable asset to the City of Kansas City and pledge its support to the Coro Foundations goal of training people as effective leaders in public affairs; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to Raquel Avila, Jill Bachman, Scott Bovick, Marie Farrell, Mindy Jacobs, Melisa Ludeman, Meredith McCanse, Matthew Rosen, Jenny Rybolt, Elizabeth Schmidt and Jaime Stuart with the congratulations of the Mayor and Council for being selected as the 1998 Coro Kansas City Interns.
