RESOLUTION NO. 070541

Honoring Michael Flanigan and extending to him their appreciation, gratitude and respect for his work on behalf of Mayor Kay Barnes, City Manager Wayne Cauthen, and the staff members of the Mayors and City Managers Offices.

WHEREAS, Michael Flanigan has served the City of Kansas City, Missouri for many years in a number of different capacities. Initially, Michael was a police officer at Kansas City International Airport for several years, then he served as a special investigator in the Animal Control Division for eleven years, during which time he also worked as a police officer for the Parkville, Missouri Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Mike returned to security work for the City in 1996, when he was a security specialist supervisor assigned to the Mayors Office; and

WHEREAS, in his position as security for the Mayor and City Manager, Michael Flanigan has served the City and its leaders well, always offering his attention and expertise in a helpful and willing manner. In addition to keeping the drawer always full of candy that he shares with everyone, Michael has been devoted to Mayor Barnes, and has respectfully attended to the Mayors personal safety at City Hall. Michael Flanigan is committed to his work, and carries out his duties in a manner that is both professional and friendly; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council do hereby honor Michael Flanigan and extend to him their appreciation, gratitude and respect for his work on behalf of Mayor Kay Barnes, City Manager Wayne Cauthen, and the staff members of the Mayors and City Managers Offices; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Michael Flanigan with appropriate recognition and appreciation.
