RESOLUTION NO. 071097

 

Approving an amendment to the Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan for an approximately 8 acre tract of land generally located at the northeast corner of 31st Street and Wyandotte Street, by changing the recommended land use from institutional to mixed use commercial residential. (581-S-4)

 

WHEREAS, on January 16, 2003, the City Council through the adoption of Resolution No. 021500 adopted the Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan as a guide for the future development and redevelopment for the area generally bounded by Pershing Road on the north, 47th Street on the south, Gillham Road on the east and Broadway Boulevard on the west; and

 

WHEREAS, the Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan has been amended by Resolution No. 030570, adopted May 29, 2003, by Resolution No. 031372, adopted January 22, 2004, and by Resolution No. 070314, adopted April 5, 2007; and

 

WHEREAS, due to certain changes, it is desirable to modify certain components of the Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan by an amendment to the Future Land Use Map as it affects an approximately eight acre area located generally at the northeast corner of 31st Street and Wyandotte Street, by changing the recommended land use from Institutional to Mixed Use Commercial/Residential uses; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission considered this amendment to the Land Use Plan and Map on September 4, 2007; and

 

WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on September 4, 2007, recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan ; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI:

 

Section A. That the Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan is hereby amended by repealing the Future Land Use Map and approving a new Future Land Use Map which changes the recommended land uses for an approximately eight acre area located generally at the northeast corner of 31st Street and Wyandotte Street, by changing the recommended land use from Institutional to Mixed Use Commercial Residential. A copy of the amendment to the Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan is attached hereto as Exhibit A and is incorporated herein by reference.

 


Section B. That the amendment to the Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan is consistent with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 

Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed Main Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan hereinabove, all public notices have been given and hearings have been had as required by law.
