RESOLUTION NO. 010693
Authorizing the Director
of Housing and Community Development to submit an application to the United
States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for a $200,000.00 Clean Air
Transportation Communities Pilot Grant for the Kansas City Riverfront Heritage
Trail Project.
WHEREAS, the
Mayor and City Council have established a Brownfields Commission to facilitate
the identification, clean-up, and redevelopment of environmentally contaminated
properties within the City; and
WHEREAS, Kansas
City has been designated a Federal Brownfields Demonstration Pilot and
Brownfields Showcase Community; and
WHEREAS, the
Brownfields Showcase has helped to develop and coordinate a multi-agency effort
to design and construct an urban, bi-state bicycle and pedestrian
transportation system known as the Riverfront Heritage Trail; and
WHEREAS, the
Environmental Protection Agency has issued a request for proposals for a
competitive grant award to recipients of a Clean Air Transportation Communities
Pilot Grant; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section A. That
the application for a Clean Air Transportation Communities Pilot Grant in the
amount of $200,000.00 pursuant to EPA procurement standards is hereby
approved. The application shall substantially conform to the copy which is
attached hereto.
Section B. That
the Director of the Department of Housing and Community Development, is hereby
authorized on behalf of the City of Kansas City to execute and submit this
application to the Environmental Protection Agency.
