ORDINANCE NO. 100645
Increasing appropriations in the
amount of $532,912.00 in the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS
(HOPWA) account of the Housing Assistant Grant Fund for the purpose of
providing housing assistance services for persons with AIDS through the end of the
current fiscal year; and recognizing an emergency.
WHEREAS,
additional funding is needed for the execution of contracts that provide the
needed services as outlined in the 2010 One-Year Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, on
March 11, 2010, through Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 100145, the
Council approved the 2010 One-Year Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, on
April 29, 2010, through Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 100310, the
Council approved an Amendment to the 2010 One-Year Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, on May
28, 2010 the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development approved the
City’s 2010 One-Year Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, the
City remains committed to providing adequate housing for persons with AIDS and
their families in the Kansas City, Missouri area; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That
the sum of $532,912.00 is appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance
into the following account in the Housing Assistant Fund:
11-2740-505004-B HOPWA
532,912.00
Section 2. That
the Director of Health is authorized to expend the sum of $1,041,960.00 from
funds appropriated to Account No. 11-2740-505004-B.
Section 3. That this ordinance
recognizes an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503 of the
City Charter in that it appropriates money, and shall take effect in accordance
with that section.

that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the
appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash
balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund
from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby
incurred.
