COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 970633
Authorizing the Director of Public Works or the Director
of Environmental Management to enter into an agreement with Deffenbaugh
Disposal Service, Inc., for the collection and disposal of refuse from the
northern and southern zones of the City for an eleven month period beginning
June 1, 1997, at the rate of $3.39 per dwelling unit per month with options to
renew for two additional one-year periods, and authorizing the Director to
expend the sum not to exceed $2,796,750.00 in previously appropriated funds.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Works or the
Director of Environmental Management is hereby authorized, on behalf of the
City, to enter into an agreement with Deffenbaugh Disposal Service, Inc., for
the collection and disposal of refuse for an eleven month period beginning June
1, 1997, at the rate of $3.39 per dwelling unit from the northern and southern
zones of the City which contain approximately 73,000 dwelling units, with
options to renew the same agreement for two additional one-year periods under
the same terms and conditions upon the recommendation of the Director. A copy
of the said agreement is on file in the office of the Director of Environmental
Management and is incorporated herein by reference.
Section 2. That the Director of Public Works or the
Director of Environmental Management is hereby authorized to expend the sum not
to exceed $2,796,750.00 from Account No. 98-100-089-2300-B or its successor
Account No. 98-100-085-2300-B from previously appropriated funds.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise
unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing
expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in
the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each
sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
