ORDINANCE NO. 931223

Authorizing the Director of Health to enter into an agreement with Adolescent Resource Corporation whereby it will provide pregnancy prevention and care services to teenagers for seven months beginning October 1, 1993, for which the City will provide $110,135.00 in previously appropriated funding; providing for an option to extend the agreement for an additional five months contingent upon additional funds being included in the next annual budget with the combined total funding for the agreement and any such extension not to exceed $188,802.00; and providing for the cost of administering the agreement.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Director of Health is hereby authorized on behalf of the City to enter into an agreement with Adolescent Resource Corporation (ARC) whereby ARC will provide prevention and direct care services to teenagers and their parents with the primary focus on pregnancy, for a period of seven months beginning October 1, 1993, for which the City will provide $110,135.00 from funds previously appropriated in Account No. 100-050-2170-B by Ordinance No. 930319. A copy of the agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

Section 2. One month prior to the expiration of this agreement and upon successful completion of its terms and conditions, the Director of Health may exercise an option to extend the term of this agreement for an additional five months utilizing such funds that may be remaining at the expiration of this agreement plus such funds that may be allocated by the City Council for this purpose in its annual budget. The combined total funding for the agreement and any such extension shall not exceed $188,802.00. Such option shall be in writing signed by the Director of Health and the agreement shall become effective when filed with the City Clerk.

Section 3. That the amount of $5,664.00 as specified in the contract may be retained by the Health Department to partially offset the cost of administering the agreement and may be used in such manner and for such purposes as the Director of Health may determine.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
