ORDINANCE NO. 191061

 

Amending Chapter 70, Code of Ordinances, by enacting a new Section 70-570, “Authority of director to establish on-street electric vehicle charging spaces” which authorizes the designation of on-street electric vehicle charging spaces and the administration thereof.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That Chapter 70, Article IV of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by enacting a new Section 70-570 to read as follows:

 

Sec. 70-570. Authority of director to establish on-street electric vehicle charging spaces.

 

The director is hereby authorized to establish on-street electric vehicle charging spaces in such places and in such manner as the director determines to be of the greatest benefit and convenience to the public. The director shall designate such spaces with signs and markings which define time limits and hours of operation, as applicable. Such spaces shall be reserved for the charging of electric vehicles only, and a vehicle may only park in the space for charging purposes. An owner of a vehicle parked in violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than $50.00 and the vehicle may be towed. The director is authorized to promulgate regulations which may be necessary for affecting the purposes of this section.
