RESOLUTION NO. 160175

 

Honoring Kansas City’s Department of Human Resources and the City of Kansas City, Missouri for recent awards, recognitions and certifications achieved.

 

WHEREAS, subject matter expertise is appreciated by the legislative body, particularly those that attract a positive spotlight on Kansas City municipal government; and

 

WHEREAS, regardless of the level of recognition, our City Government as a whole benefits from our employees’ commitment to improving public service; and

 

WHEREAS, it is acknowledged that even individual achievements cannot be attained without the support of the team—City Manager, Elected Officials and other City Departments; and

 

WHEREAS, accomplishments, awards, and professional certifications include:

 

-          International Public Management Association’s National and Regional Award for Excellence for a Mid-size Agency for Innovation: Workforce Succession Planning Model (KC-Workforce Advancement Model)

-          Workforce Magazine’s Optima Award for Benefits in support of Diversity in the workplace (domestic partner program)

-          World at Work Seal of Distinction for commitment to health/wellness/benefits

-          KC Chamber of Commerce Gold Level Healthy KC Certified for workplace wellness program

-          Alex George Award for Excellence from Kansas City Corporate Challenge, for dedication to the Kansas City Corporate Challenge (Y. Tunley)

-          Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s ACE Award for raising awareness through diversity training initiatives (K. Lewis)

-          Carl K. Wettengel IPMA Central Region Award, for outstanding contributions to the field of public personnel management (T. Briggs, S. Marsh)

-          Sixteen (16) employees designated as Certified HR Professionals by the International Public Management Association and/or Society for Human Resources Management Association (L. Black, T. NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the Department of Human Resources on the above recognitions; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the department with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for their outstanding service to the City and its employees.
