COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION NO. 920048
Approving the Shoal Creek Valley Area Plan as a guide for
future development and redevelopment for the area generally bounded on the
north by the corporate limits of Kansas City, on the west by N. Woodland, on
the south by Pleasant Valley Road, and on the east by the corporate limits of
Kansas City.
WHEREAS, the City Development Department has
conducted a study with the assistance of Bucher, Willis, Ratliff consultants
delineating the characteristics of the Shoal Creek Valley Area; and
WHEREAS, said study focused on the development and
redevelopment of the area generally bounded by the corporate limits on the
north, Pleasant Valley Road on the south, N. Woodland on the west, and the
corporate limits on the east; and
WHEREAS, as a result of said study, the City
Development Department has proposed a framework for the orderly development
within said area; and
WHEREAS, the approval of a plan is an integral part
of the general development plan for the City as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the City Development Department has
incorporated its findings in the Shoal Creek Valley Area Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission did hold a public
hearing on February 18, 1992, and did recommend approval of the Shoal Creek
Valley Area Plan subject to certain modifications recommended by staff; and
WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission recommends that
the City Council adopt the Shoal Creek Valley Area Plan, as revised, as a guide
for future development and redevelopment of that area generally bounded on the
north by the corporate limits of Kansas City, on the west by N. Woodland, on
the south by Pleasant Valley Road, and on the east by the corporate limits of
Kansas City; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Shoal Creek Valley Area Plan as
prepared by the City Development Department, a copy of which is attached hereto
and incorporated herein by reference and as revised pursuant to the
recommendation of City Plan Commission and recommendations of staff, is hereby
adopted as a guide for the development and redevelopment of that area generally
bounded by the corporate limits of Kansas City on the north, Pleasant Valley
Road on the south, N. Woodland on the west, and the corporate limits of Kansas
City on the east.
Section 2. That the Council finds and declares that
before taking any action on the proposed Plan, all public notices and hearings
required by law have been given and had.
