Honoring Joseph F. Reichert on his retirement from the City after more than 34 years.


WHEREAS, Joseph F. Reichert, P.E., R.L.S., has announced his retirement from the City of Kansas City, Missouri after 34 years and 2 months of service to the City; and


WHEREAS, since beginning his service with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in October, 1967, in the Water Department Engineering Division and serving as the Public Works Department Solid Wastes Division Head in 1969, Street Maintenance Division Head in 1977, and transferring to the Engineering Division in 1985, Joseph has been a cheerful, thoughtful, innovative and dedicated employee and manager to all those with whom he has worked; and


WHEREAS, Joe has demonstrated his leadership, management and technical skills by his involvement in major City programs and initiatives during his career; and


WHEREAS, Joe has devoted his time to the youth in the Kansas City community with the Boy Scouts of America and being recognized with the Bronze Pelican Religious Award, the District Award of Merit, the Wood Badge Training Award, and as a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say; and


WHEREAS, Joe has been a parishioner of St. Elizabeths Catholic Church for 34 years serving on numerous parish and school committees and boards; and


WHEREAS, Joe has participated in community charitable events through his membership in the Bishop Hogan Council and the Father Donnelly Assembly of the Knights of Columbus; and


WHEREAS, Joe is active in his technical and professional organizations including the ASCE, MSPE - NSPE and APWA serving as Chairperson on numerous local and state committees, and is a recipient of the APWA Samuel Greeley Local Government Service Award; and


WHEREAS, Joe, upon retiring from the City of Kansas City, Missouri, will have the opportunity to spend time with his wife Mary who has supported him in their 35 years of marriage, their five children and three grandchildren; NOW, THEREFORE,




That the Mayor and Council hereby honor and commend Joseph F. Reichert, P.E., R.L.S., for his 34 years and 2 months of dedicated and professional service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to him in token of the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his services to this City and its citizens.
