RESOLUTION NO. 140639

 

Honoring Stephen Abbott on his retirement from the City of Kansas City, Missouri after 23 years of dedicated service.

 

WHEREAS, Stephen Abbott began his career with the City 23 years ago in the City Planning and Development Department as the Northland Planner; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen retired as the Senior Planner for the Parks and Recreation Department where he managed the acquisition of more than 450 acres of parkland and the collection of over $800,000.00 in developer’s allotments in lieu of parkland during his career; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen had been responsible for several regional studies, master plans, and served as the interim Engineering, Planning and Design Division Manager from 2008 to 2011; and

 

WHEREAS, July 31, 2014, marked the last day of Stephen Abbott’s career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY;

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Stephen Abbott, on the occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for his future, together with appreciation for his 23 years of dedicated and devoted service to the citizens of this great City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Stephen Abbott in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect, high regard, and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
