RESOLUTION NO. 130664

 

Celebrating the work of reconciliation services and Father David Paisius and his late wife Matushka Michaila.

 

WHEREAS, Father David Paisius, along with his late wife, Matushka Michaila, co-founded Reconciliation Ministries which eventually became Reconciliation Services; and

 

WHEREAS, Reconciliation Services provides important services to Kansas City that reaches our most vulnerable and underprivileged populations; and

 

WHEREAS, those who have untreated mental health issues, personal traumas, and feelings of doubt from repeated rejections by mainstream facilities, are able to find love and comfort at Reconciliation Services; and

 

WHEREAS, Reconciliation Services serves to forge connections and enable strong community networks in such a crucial corridor in our city; and

 

WHEREAS, Matushka Michaila, through her work with Reconciliation Services, sought to bring racial reconciliation in the Troost area by transforming Troost Avenue into a gathering place for those who benefit from their services; and

 

WHEREAS, Father David Paisius is committed to serving those who would otherwise fall through the cracks; and

 

WHEREAS, Father David Paisius has and continues to make a difference in the lives of our citizens, by empowering individuals to seek help and providing a strong support system to ensure that they can and will live the quality of life that they deserve; and

 

WHEREAS, Matushka Michaila has passed on to her just rewards and Father David Paisius has devoted his adult life in the service of others and now seeks to retire from such an active role in the operations of Reconciliation Services; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize and celebrate the life work of Matushka Michaila, Reconciliation Services and Father David Paisius; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Father David Paisius with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for their remarkable and invaluable work to create and inspire hope in our community.
