RESOLUTION NO. 120671

 

Recognizing Central Exchange and the win l win campaign.

 

WHEREAS, Central Exchange compiled a significant body of global research in 2010 exhibiting a correlation between companies with meaningful gender diversity within their leadership with higher profitability, growth and more innovation; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City area public corporations have 50% fewer women than Fortune 500 companies from around the country and in fact, women comprise only 7% of executive officers and boards of directors in these companies; and

 

WHEREAS, in September 2010, Central Exchange and community partners the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Kansas City Area Development Council, Bloch School-UMKC, Kauffman Foundation and Greater Kansas City Community Foundation launched a campaign called “win l win, a business case for Kansas City”, with a goal to increase the number of women on boards of directors and in executive positions to 20% by 2015; and

 

WHEREAS, over 80 companies, organizations and individuals have joined Don Hall, Jr. and Hallmark, the first supporter, in signing an accord to support the initiative, actively promote a work environment that supports the development and advancement of women and share best practices with the Kansas City business community to increase women at the top; NOW, THEREFORE,

 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the exemplary efforts of Central Exchange, its win l win campaign and welcome the opportunity to serve as supporters and sponsors of the initiative to move the City forward; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to organizers of this project.
