RESOLUTION NO. 130316

 

Expressing deep sympathy and condolences to the victims of the bombings at the Boston Marathon.

 

WHEREAS, an attack on one community is an attack on all cities and towns, and we stand united in solidarity to provide support and assistance in every possible way to the leaders and citizens of Boston and its surrounding communities; and

WHEREAS, amidst the images of the brutal attack, the heroic actions of the public safety professionals, health professionals, and citizens demonstrate the strength and resiliency of a community; and

WHEREAS, lives were clearly saved by the immediate response and the skilled and compassionate care provided by police officers, firefighters, members of the military and National Guard, doctors, nurses, volunteers, runners, workers, friends, family and visitors; and

WHEREAS, these brave people rushed to the scene and aided the innocent victims, reflecting the very best that can be found in our cities; and

WHEREAS, Kansas City offers our thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby express their deep sympathy and condolences to victims of the bombings at the Boston Marathon; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy be sent to Mayor Thomas Menino with the heartfelt sorrow of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for the bombings at the Boston Marathon.
