ORDINANCE NO. 930902

 

Approving a $24,782.00 contract with Wilson Plumbing Company for an emergency repair to the Hillside Levee Sewer; authorizing expenditure of $30,977.00 in funding therefor; and declaring an emergency.

 

WHEREAS, the Hillside Levee Sewer was damaged in two places by the recent flooding; and

 

WHEREAS, the damaged sewer is allowing creek water to pour into the sewer which could damage other portions of this sewer; and

 

WHEREAS, the damage to the sewer is causing part of the street to collapse and this sewer must be repaired immediately to prevent further destruction to City property and for the safety of our residents; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That a $24,782.00 contract between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, through its Director of Water and Pollution Control, and Wilson Plumbing Company for an emergency repair to the Hillside Levee Sewer is hereby approved and confirmed. The contract will be in a form as that on file with the Director of Water and Pollution Control.

 

Section 2. That the Director of Water and Pollution Control is hereby authorized to expend up to the sum of $30,977.00 from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 811-086-7700-T to satisfy the cost of this contract, including changes deemed necessary.

 

Section 3. This ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 15, Article II of the Charter of Kansas City because it is for the immediate preservation of public property, health and safety and shall take effect immediately upon passage.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
