RESOLUTION NO. 140087

 

Honoring Children’s Mercy Northland Clinic for their commitment to the Northland Community.

 

WHEREAS, Children’s Mercy Hospital is nationally ranked as one of the top children’s hospitals by US News and World Report and operates as a non-profit hospital; and

 

WHEREAS, Children’s Mercy Hospital traces its history to two sisters in Kansas City helping a young child that was abandoned due to the parent’s inability to care for her. They formed a Free Bed Fund Association in 1897 and their mission grew from there; and

 

WHEREAS, in October 2003, Children’s Mercy Hospital opened a Northland Clinic with 11,000 square feet and four specialty clinics; and

 

WHEREAS, they have since grown to 33,000 square feet and host over a dozen specialty clinics including an urgent care facility that is open 7 days a week; and

 

WHEREAS, Children’s Mercy has invested $9 million and brought 250 jobs to the area; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Children’s Mercy Northland Clinic for their commitment to the Northland Community; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Jo Stueve, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer, Gregory Conners, MD, Chief of the Division of Emergency and Urgent Care, Tom Tryon, MD, Associate Division Director, Section of Urgent Care, Urgent Care Professional at Children’s Mercy Northland, and Stephanie Seger, Manager of Government Relations, with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for their outstanding contributions to the Kansas City and surrounding communities.
