RESOLUTION NO. 021423
Establishing the City's
priorities for proposed legislation that the City encourages the General
Assembly to adopt during the 2003 Missouri Legislative Session.
WHEREAS, the
Missouri General Assembly will convene January 8, 2003, and the City, during
the process of establishing its legislative priorities, seeks to propose
legislation for adoption during the 2003 Session; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the City
Council of Kansas City hereby adopts the following positions on legislation
that it will seek to propose as and for its legislative priorities for the 2003
Missouri Legislative Session:
1. Support the Missouri Downtown
Economic Stimulus Act, and
2. Revise the distressed
community designation to allow more equal access to funds for redevelopment
within Kansas City, and
3. Support the New Jobs Training
Program, and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, that the City will continue to seek state funding for major public
capital improvement projects and opportunities to maximize state funding of
other important City projects and programs, and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof, and that copies hereof be distributed to the elected members
of the Missouri General Assembly from the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area
as evidence of the Citys position on these important matters.
