RESOLUTION NO. 190965

 

Recognizing Robert Charles Bradley for all the work he does for the community.

 

WHEREAS, Robert Charles Bradley served his country with the United States of America Airforce, in two headquarters, one in the 25th Air Division outside of Tacoma Washington and the other in the 315th Air Division in Fuchu, Japan. Mr. Bradley started working for the United States Postal Service in 1954 as a letter carrier retiring after 38 years of service; and

 

WHEREAS while working for the United States Postal Service, Mr. Bradley became active in the local American Postal Workers Union. Mr. Bradley was Co-chair of many committees, such as Entertainment, Health and Human Relations services all the way to being a Employees Union Representative holding positions such as Chief Steward of his tour, and was elected the first full time president of the “Greater Kansas City Metro Area Local-APWU; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Bradley has been involved, financially, physically and morally, with our young men, women and veterans helping them find jobs and giving them something to do other than hanging out and the last eight years Mr. Bradley has volunteered with the AARP free tax help donating $500.00 of his own earnings at the end of tax year; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Bradley was one of the founders of the group Eggs of Enlightenment which consist of local Ministers, Pastors, businesses and communities leaders all coming together to provide better race relation and help come up with jobs and other needs for the inner-city.; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby acknowledge the importance of Mr. Robert Charles Bradley and his continuing efforts to make our community better while helping others; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Robert Charles Bradley with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his generous time given to our community.
