ORDINANCE NO. 050062

Setting March 31, 2005 as the final date by which the annual budget for fiscal year 2005 2006 must be adopted.

WHEREAS, the City Charter requires the annual budget to be adopted by the fourth Thursday of March, unless nine members of the Council authorize a date no later than March 31; and

WHEREAS, the fourth Thursday of March 2005 is March 24, 2005; and

WHEREAS, the Council wishes to utilize the additional seven days available to it for consideration of the fiscal year 2005 2006 annual budget as permitted by Section 89 of the City Charter; NOW, THEREFORE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That pursuant to the authority granted by Section 89 of the City Charter, the Council changes the date by which the annual budget for fiscal year 2005 2006 must be adopted from March 24, 2005, to March 31, 2005.
