RESOLUTION NO. 930790
Directing the City Manager to report on the expenditure
of capital improvement funds and staff activities in the area of flood control
and abatement.
WHEREAS, during the past week, the City and its
citizens have experienced severe flooding problems especially in the Southwest
Boulevard area and the Leeds-Dunbar area; and
WHEREAS, severe flooding causes financial hardship
for those who experience it; and
WHEREAS, the current flooding has caused financial
hardship on the City because of the unanticipated expenditure of funds to
cleanup and remove debris from the areas involved; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires a report from the City
Manager on the expenditure of capital improvement funds and activities by the
various departments of the City in the area of flood control and abatement
since the last incident of major flooding in 1990; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the City Manager is hereby directed to report
to the Council at the business session of the City Council one week from the
date of passage of this Resolution on the expenditure of capital improvement
funds and the activities by the various departments of the City in the area of
flood control and abatement since the last incident of major flooding in
1990.
