RESOLUTION NO. 130522

 

Honoring Wilbur G. Dunnell as a Rich Noll Pacesetter for June, 2013.

 

WHEREAS, the Rich Noll Pacesetter Award has been established to honor City employees who provide excellent service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, the Rich Noll Pacesetter Award is named after Rich Noll, who worked for the City of Kansas City in a variety of capacities over his 26 year career and always exemplified the best attributes of City government in those capacities including customer service, responsiveness, timeliness and teamwork; and

 

WHEREAS, Wilbur G. Dunnell is a Laboratory Supervisor in the Water Services Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Wilbur has been a Laboratory Supervisor for nearly 25 years and has been a key component to implementing and running the Laboratory Safety Program, the Hazardous Waste Program, the Lab Certification Program and the Analytical Training Program where he supervised and trained most of the employees in the laboratory; and

 

WHEREAS, Wilbur was given the assignment to provide various safety training sessions for all staff members whether they were Chemist or non-Chemist staff with the task being made more difficult by the diversity in educational backgrounds; and

 

WHEREAS, Wilbur has hosted a television science segment on KCCG TV 2 where he played the character “Dr. H2O” and does live public presentations at various schools around the area as well has having done presentations at mayoral events, various City Council events and at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, Wilbur recently became the 2013 recipient of the S.T.E.M. Leader Award in Science for Kansas City and continues to deliver exceptional customer service on the job and off the job; and

 

WHEREAS, Wilbur is dedicated to growing his employees, promoting a positive image for the Water Services Department, and teaching others about the wonders of science; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Wilbur G. Dunnell as a Rich Noll Pacesetter for the month of June, 2013; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Wilbur G. Dunnell with the thanks of the Mayor and Council for his dedication and service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.
