RESOLUTION NO. 041092

Expressing appreciation to Prudential CRES Commercial Real Estate for its management of the City Market for the past ten years.

WHEREAS, Prudential Commercial Real Estate Services has managed the City Market for the last ten years under the diligent leadership of Lou Steele, who was ably assisted by Joy Thompson, Stephanie Spatz-Ornburn, Debbie Connors and other capable staff; and

WHEREAS, during Prudentials tenure as market manager, the Market became the strongest and largest farmers market in the Midwest; and

WHEREAS, Prudential developed the potential of the Market as a public place and entertainment venue, as well as an educational and agricultural center for the City, all serving diverse populations of Market-goers; and

WHEREAS, under the guidance of Lou Steele and staff, the Market has attracted grant funds and sponsorships, undergone major capital renovations and improvements and received the Great Markets/Great Cities Award of Distinction, the most prestigious award given to an individual market in North America, at the 5th Annual International Public Market Conference in 2002; and

WHEREAS, the listing of exemplary staff members over the years also includes Sean Michael, Phil Gordon, Florene Mayfield, Robin Taylor, and Scott Wagner; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council wish to express their deep appreciation to Prudential for its tremendous efforts in managing the City Market over the last ten years; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby express their wholehearted gratitude to Prudential CRES Commercial Real Estate for its awesome achievements in managing the City Market for the past ten years; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be furnished to staff members in token of the Mayor and Councils appreciation for the great work done by Prudentials City Market staff.
