ORDINANCE NO. 090357

 

Accepting and approving a three year $2,998,508.00 grant award and agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide funding to evaluate and reduce the exposure of lead-based hazards in the homes of low income families and young children in the City of Kansas City, Missouri; increasing both revenue and appropriations in the amount of $492,003.00 in the HUD Lead-Based Paint Grant Fund.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That a grant award and agreement between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), acting through its Director of Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), whereby HUD will provide funding to evaluate and reduce the exposure of lead based hazards in the homes of low income families and young children for the period beginning April 15, 2009 through April 14, 2012, for an amount not to exceed $2,998,508.00, is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the grant award, in substantial form, is attached and made a part by reference.

 

Section 2. That revenue in the following account of the HUD Lead-Based Paint Grant Fund is hereby increased by the following amount:

 

10-2750-500001-476250 HUD Lead Hazard Control $492,003.00

 

Section 3. That the appropriation in the following account of the HUD Lead-Based Paint Grant Fund is hereby reduced by the following amount:

 

10-2750-505011-A HUD Lead Hazard Control $114,788.00

 

Section 4. That appropriations in the following accounts of the HUD Lead-Based Paint Grant Fund are hereby increased by the following amounts:

 

10-2750-505011-B HUD Lead Hazard Control $595,997.00

10-2750-505011-C HUD Lead Hazard Control 10,794.00

TOTAL $606,791.00

 

Section 4. That the Director of Health is authorized to expend the sum of $1,402,003.00 from funds heretofore appropriated to Account No. 10-2750-505011 for the aforesaid contract.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
