RESOLUTION NO. 150455

 

Recognizing the Twin Creeks KC Task Force for their hard work and dedication in providing a blueprint for quality residential development.

 

WHEREAS, Twin Creeks, formerly known as the First and Second Creek Watersheds, covers approximately 15,000 acres and is generally located between I-29 and 169 Highway, north of 152 to the northern city limits; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri created the Twin Creeks KC Task Force by passing Resolution No. 130443 and approved a complex infrastructure investment in sanitary sewers which is has been constructed and is now functional,

 

WHEREAS, this prime development area has the potential to house 70,000 residents, once the infrastructure and capital needs in this area are met including projects relating to schools, parks, roads, and public safety facilities; and

 

WHERE, the Twin Creeks KC Task Force was charged with determining how to finance and build the necessary infrastructure, promoting quality development, maximizing the City’s investments, and determining the proper blend of development, and met monthly for the next 2 years, receiving presentations and identifying potential challenges; and

 

WHEREAS, the Twin Creeks KC Task Force has completed their Final Report and Recommendations as to how this prime development area can be used to its full potential; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the Twin Creeks KC Task Force for their hard work and dedication in providing a blueprint for quality residential development; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Task Force Members including Co-Chairs, Ed Bradley and Ed Ford, Tim Kristl, Allen Dillingham, Chris Byrd, Babette Macy, Sheila Tracy, Alicia Stephens, Mike Reik, Aaron Schmidt, Jim Harpool, Caprice James, Jim Bowers, Darren Hennen, Platte County Commission, Clay County Commission and alternates, Russ Johnson, Dave Mecklenburg, Trish Martin, Greg Martinette, Scott Springston, Danny Clemens, and Nelsie Sweeney with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for the many hours spent working to come up with a final plan for this area.
